With the #Metoo movement, lots of politicians these days are being ousted and criticized for their “transgressions” as the first of many, Tiger Woods, put it. Just another fancy word for cheating. Since Tiger Woods, more and more men were being called out and they too apologized for their transgressions. Long ago, we rarely ever heard about men in powerful positions cheating on their wives….but does that it wasn’t happening??? Of course not. It has always happened, but either no one cared to make it an issue, or they considered it a private matter between the man and his wife.
But mostly, people didn’t think anyone would care so they didn’t make it a big deal. However, it has now been made a big deal and many men in powerful positions have been forced to apologize and even resign. It has been very surprising to reveal some of the most seemingly faithful men commit transgressions.
But while everyone is focused on who they cheated with, sadly people are rarely focused on the cheaters’ wives. They are the ones left to deal with the aftermath of their reckless, selfish behavior, and left to deal with the entire family. While the cheating men are busy saving face to the world, their wives are left humiliated, hurt and faced with the most difficult decision of all: whether to leave him in the public eye. The wives of these politicians or famous figures are no different than any other woman whose man has cheated on them. Their hurt is not lessened by money or fame. It’s easy to forget who suffers the most, and many times silently. We should show our support for these women and not forget that while they may be married to the rich and famous because their husbands cheated on them, their hearts are broken just the same as anyone else!
