While Super Bowl LIV has come to a close, fans can’t help but think back on the killer halftime performances by Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, and some of their special guests. The two-power house Latinas set the Super Bowl stage on fire during the half time show in Miami this past Sunday. They delivered a high-energy and an empowHERment performance. The two stars made history as the first latina duo to headline the event. Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny and Columbian artist J. Balvin joined in on the Super Bowl show, as well as a young girl choir led by Lopez’ daughter Emme.

The whole world was able to get a glimpse of JLo’s talented daughter Emme. The skilled 11 year-old showcased her skills when she joined Lopez during the halftime show singing mom’s hit song “Let’s Get Loud” and Bruce Springstein“Born In The USA” accompanied by a choir of children.

While there has been some controversy about the performance not being “family-friendly” with outfit selections, suggestive dance moves, Lopez’s pole dancing and Shakira’s wagging tongue. It was empowering to see two women of color over the age of 40 headline the Super Bowl. They made it one of the best halftime shows in years. Spectators definitely felt the energy and entertainment as diversity was celebrated on stage.
