Mass shooting incidents are disturbing, irrational, and horrifying. It is sickening to know individuals have been harmed or have even lost their lives because of one person’s actions. There are far too many deadly mass shootings, especially in the U.S. While there is no single definition for mass shooting incidents it can be defined as an incident in which four or more people are killed at a public location involving multiple victims of firearm related violence.
The state with the highest number of mass shootings and deaths in the past year was Texas.
These are some of Texas shootings in 2019 alone.
Aug. 3, Shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, 22 victims
In El Paso, Texas 22 people killed after mass shooting and at least 24 wounded. It was the deadliest shooting of the year.
Aug. 31, Odessa shooting, 7 victims
A drive-by shooting spree in Odessa and Midland, Texas, with seven people killed and 24 wounded
After being fired from his job, the shooter Seth Aaron Ator, 36, allegedly went on a rampage in the Odessa-Midland, Texas, area, opening fire on victims.
Oct. 27, Greenville shooting at Texas Homecoming Party, 2 victims
Two people are dead 12 Injured in Shooting at an Off-campus homecoming party Near Texas A&M-Commerce.
Here are some red flags to look for to prevent these deadly situations before they begin.
Mass shooters show violent or antisocial behavior beforehand. Individual may not seem to be mentally okay. Their signs of behaviors may show anger, alienation, and bitterness over being bullied.
Shooters can be prevented, by people who are aware of their threats, behaviors or actions. Act on any clues and detection of early warning signs. Notify authorities if there is suspicion of harmful actions and have them verify whether there is a threat.
In case there is a shooting in your surroundings understand the situation. Get out, look for a way to escape out of the line of sight of potential threats.
